Frequently Asked Questions

Narration, Audiobook or other Voice work

Are Commercial/Broadcast rights included - and what are they anyway?

Yes, essentially you can use the audio for whatever you like.

Commercial Rights: any type of usage for business (internal video, etc.)

Broadcast Rights: any business use that pays for advertising (boosted YouTube ads, etc.)

Note: you must own the publishing rights to your text.

Do you include background music?

Yes - for an additional fee I will use my library of royalty-free music to mix in and support the voice over project. As well, I can mix in music which you supply. Commercial rights are included, but Broadcast rights would need to be discussed.

Do you proofread?

If you're concerned that it won't read well to an English-speaking audience, I will make adjustments to the text upon request.

Otherwise I will read the text exactly as written, except for minor corrections as needed.

Time sync - what is it, and do you need it?

I will time the voiceover to amounts in minutes and seconds which you supply. For example - if a video has been produced and timing cannot be changed, I can fit the reading into those time constraints, if the text permits

Do you render video?

I do not currently have the equipment to render or process video.

What is your revision policy?

One revision is included in the basic price. Any further revisions will add more time and cost.

Audio, Music, or other Professional Services

What do I get in the end?

You will get an audio file delivered digitally, ready for CD production or streaming, in any format you need.

How much do you charge per hour?

If it makes sense to charge by the hour, it will be $40 to $80 an hour, depending on complexity.

Ok then - How much per project?

For one song, between $100 and $300 depending on complexity and editing requirements. It would have to be very complex to cost $300. A full album usually comes in under $2,000, but over $500, again depending on the complexity. If you're Aerosmith and I have to heavily edit your solos, I will charge a lot more. If it's just you and a guitar mixed as-is, it will be a lot less. Price is set after detailed discussion of the project.

Do you have music equipment there?

I have guitars and amplifiers, but we would need to make arrangements for anything else to be supplied.

What are your hours?

I understand that having a day job and finding time to record are difficult. I will work with you to find times that work for both of us.
